My Must-Have Homesteader, Canning & Food Preservation Products:
1. Stainless Steel Stock Pot
If you can only buy one thing for food preservation, make it be a quality stainless steel stock pot!
Seriously, a good stainless steel stock pot comes in handy so often when preserving foods. Oftentimes, you need a non-reactive pot when cooking up sauces or pickling brines and this works perfect for all size batches. Also, a large stainless steel pot like this one can be used as a water-bath canning pot.
The bonus of splurging on this high quality pot is that is has a heavy bottom to prevent items from burning and sticking. Buy it, you won’t regret it.
2. Basic Canning Kit
If you plan on getting into the hobby of canning, this basic canning kit is a must-have and something you will use ALL the time.
3. Canning Jars
Another must-have item for canning is obviously canning jars. I stay stocked up on all different sized canning jars.
4. Canning Lids
Don’t forget to grab extra canning lids for when you are reusing jars. We always discard lids after use to ensure a good seal.
5. Pressure Canner
This will be your biggest canning splurge, but I like to call it an investment! We are still using my fiancé’s grandmothers pressure canner from YEARS ago. A quality pressure canner will seriously last generations and is something that can be passed down in the family. A Pressure canner is needed when canning foods low in acid like meats and certain vegetables.
This will honestly pay for itself with all of the meals and jars of food you will be able to preserve!
6. The Encyclopedia Of Country Living
This book, The Encyclopedia of County Living, is such a good quality book!
This book is full of information on so many different homesteader topics like herbal remedies, beekeeping, delivering a baby, and preserving food!
7. The Backyard Homestead Book
Another amazing homesteader book is The Backyard Homestead.
This book is perfect for the homesteader living on a small lot of land! Most people think you need acres of land to be a successful homestead but this book proves that isn’t true!
8. Pasta Maker
This one is so fun! Making homemade pasta and using this pasta maker makes for an amazing learning experience that the whole family will love!
Homemade pasta is *chefs kiss*
9. Black Metal Egg Storage Rack
This egg rack not only has that cute farmhouse aesthetic, but it is a super useful item for the chicken owners in your life!
10. Food Dehydrator
This food dehydrator from Magic Mill is a top notch dehydrator! The quality, size and look are all superior to other dehydrators! This makes a great gift for anyone looking to start a long term food storage, or just to make healthy and tasty snacks!
11. Complete Dehydrator Cookbook
This book, the Complete Dehydrator Cookbook, would go perfectly with the dehydrator above! There are so many things you can dehydrate and this book includes amazing recipes and ideas!
